Learning these skills means being able to imagine a new way of using the camera in your mobile handset, or a new way for people to connect to each other, and then being able to bring that vision to reality. You will understand more about how the world works, and become a participating member in the digital society unfolding before us.

Youth unemployment in South Africa seats at 52.8% and is one of the highest in the world. The steady increase of the youth population is not being matched by an increase in job opportunities. There is a large discrepancy between what the youth are being taught and what employers expect them to know.
Quirky 30 NPC has developed a powerful, impactful model. We have a bold vision of turning impoverished communities and prisons from gangster-ridden crime hubs offering very few opportunities and hope into dynamic and vibrant tech hubs which can have a national and global impact.

Founded by 2 former ex-inmates as a disruptive solution for a pathway out of poverty, inequality and crime – amongst other things our coding programme is tackling the high unemployment rate – which can exceed 70% in these communities.

We believe the implications of this ‘revolution’ are huge – impacting education, inequality, employment and economic growth. Obviously, knowing how to code and do it well is in high demand. But it can be challenging to know where to start building your skills. Earlier in 2018 – the job of software developer was named the best job to have by U.S. News & World Report
